Video: Man Robs Home, Another Looms Over Sleeping Owner With Iron Rod

In a brazen theft, three unidentified thieves looted jewellery and cash worth over Rs 5 lakh from the residence of retired Justice Ramesh Garg in Indore's Vijay Nagar. The meticulously executed heist, which lasted four minutes and ten seconds, targeted the bungalow around 3:30 AM, with the masked thieves breaking the main gate's lock and forcing open an almirah to make off with the valuables.

A video of the shocking theft has surfaced on social media, showing one thief standing guard with a rod in hand, while the other stole cash and jewellery from the almirah.

The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred on Sunday morning while the family was asleep. Notably, the home's alarm system failed to alert Justice Garg's son, Ritvik, allowing the thieves to escape undetected. According to reports, the thieves had cut through an iron window grill to gain entry, all while a security guard was present outside. Meanwhile, Ritvik's wife and children slept undisturbed in another room, oblivious to the theft unfolding nearby.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Indore's affluent Vijay Nagar neighbourhood, raising concerns about security in an area known for its prominent residents. The targeting of a retired justice's home has added urgency to the police's efforts, with pressure mounting to apprehend the culprits.

Vijay Nagar police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the culprits.

'Parag Is The Reason': On Samson Trade Saga, Ex-CSK Star Drops Bombshell

Former Indian cricket team batter Subramaniam Badrinath believes that Riyan Parag can be the reason behind Sanju Samson potentially leaving Rajasthan Royals. With Samson injured for the first three matches in IPL 2025, Parag led the franchise. However, with Parag still remaining a big captaincy contender, Badrinath said that it can be a reason behind Sanju reportedly looking for a new team.  "I feel Riyan Parag is the reason. If you consider him for captaincy, how do you expect someone like Samson to stay?" Badrinath said on his YouTube channel.

However, the former CSK cricketer also pointed out that despite being a like-for-like replacement for MS Dhoni, the franchise may struggle to find a place for Samson in the playing XI.

"If Sanju Samson does come to CSK, then he could be the like-for-like replacement for MS Dhoni. Samson is a batter who can bat in the top three or four spots in the batting order. He is not someone who could fit in the number five or six spot in the playing XI. CSK are strong in those areas of the playing XI. Mhatre is settled, Gaikwad is settled, Brevis is settled."

"I am not sure if CSK would do a transaction like MI did to get Hardik Pandya from GT. So even if Sanju Samson comes in, the question remains whether CSK can fit him into the playing XI," he added.

Badrinath also spoke about the captaincy situation in CSK and pointed out that it is unlikely for the team to hand the captaincy to Samson considering how much they have backed Ruturaj Gaikwad.

"The other aspect to consider is captaincy. Whether MS Dhoni leads or not, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain. He's led only for one season. If you give the captaincy to Samson, how would Gaikwad feel about that?. That is something we need to consider. I think keeping all these things in mind, CSK are still thinking of whether or not to go ahead," Badrinath concluded.

Delivery Rider Falls Into Open Drain, Loses Phone; Union Asks Zomato To Help

A food delivery worker in Hyderabad fell into a drain while on duty amid heavy rains in the city, prompting calls from the Telangana gig workers' union for accountability from the company.

Syed Farhan fell into an open drain on Saturday while on an active Zomato order. His phone was lost in the drain, while his motorcycle got damaged.

The Telangana Gig and Platform Workers' Union (TGPWU) questioned if the cost of workers' lives is equivalent to a Rs 10 or 15 rain bonus. "This is not just an accident - it is a direct consequence of platforms prioritising profits over worker safety. God blessed Farhan with his life yesterday, but tomorrow may be too late for another worker," said Shaik Salauddin, TGPWU chief.

Urging the food delivery company to take accountability for the accident, Mr Salauddin demanded that the delivery worker's phone be replaced, his bike repaired and his lost income be compensated.

The union further called upon delivery platforms to stop risking workers' lives, provide fair rain and surge bonus, and share real-time weather data to allow informed decisions. "This is not about a Rs 10 or Rs 15 rain bonus - it's about whether a worker returns home alive," Salauddin emphasised.

TGPWU urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to act against companies risking delivery workers' lives. The civic body has already issued advisories to aggregator companies about the dangers of sending riders out in extreme weather, but these warnings continue to be ignored, Mr Salauddin said.

Twisted Jet Confirms Most Extreme Binary Black Hole System in the Universe

Astronomers have confirmed that the blazar OJ 287 hosts the most extreme binary black hole system ever found. Using a global radio telescope array, they captured an ultra-sharp image showing a dramatically bent jet—evidence of two supermassive black holes locked in orbit. The system’s 12-year flare cycle and jet twists match predictions of a smaller companion black hole disturbing the primary’s disk. This discovery offers new insights into galaxy evolution, black hole mergers, and gravitational wave detection, making OJ 287 a prime target for future space observatories like LISA.

Watch: Newborn Calf Walks Alongside Mother Elephant, Hours After Birth

A stunning video of a mother elephant crossing a road with her newborn calf has gone viral, catching the internet's attention. The nearly 20-second clip, shared by Indian Forest Service officer Parveen Kaswan, showcases the mama elephant carefully guiding the baby elephant, who is still learning to walk, having been born just a few hours earlier.

On average, the newborn elephant calves stand about one metre in height and weigh roughly 120 kilograms. The calf is helped to its feet by the mother and other maternal figures in the herd. Calves are able to stand on their own within minutes of birth. After a couple of hours and a few minor but adorable setbacks, the calf is able to walk.

"An unsteady walk, as the calf just came into world. Elephant calves start walking within one to two hours of birth. In wild, they have to be mobile, necessary for survival," Mr Kaswan captioned the video.

Pakistan Cricketer Arrested In UK Over Rape Allegations, Later Released On Bail

Pakistan cricket slumped to a new low with a young player, Haider Ali, who was on a tour of the United Kingdom with the country's 'A' team -- Pakistan Shaheen, was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police with sources confirming it was over a complaint by a girl, alleging rape. Haider Ali has been provisionally suspended by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), said a report. Haider was arrested by Greater Manchester Police at the Beckenham ground where Pakistan Shaheens was playing against MCSAC on August 3, reports Telecom Asia Sports. "It's apparently a rape case against a girl of Pakistani origin," a source was quoted as saying in the report.

The sources confirmed that the Greater Manchester Police had seized Haider's passport but released him on bail.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said it will cooperate with the investigations and will give support to Haider to fight the case. In the meantime, the PCB has suspended Haider Ali till his name is cleared.

"We were told about this case and investigation. We have suspended Haider until the investigation is completed and will conduct our own inquiry in the UK," a PCB spokesman told www.telecomasia.net.

"Haider was in tears after he was arrested from the ground and pleaded not guilty during the investigation," said sources.

Pakistan Shaheens were on a tour of the UK from July 17 to August 6 and played two three-day games, which were both drawn, a three-match One-day series that they won 2-1.

Most of the players, except captain Saud Shakeel and Haider, returned from the UK on Wednesday. Shakeel stayed back in Dubai for personal reasons.

The 24-year-old Haider is a talented player who played two ODIs and 35 Twenty20 internationals for Pakistan, the last in the Asian Games two years ago. He played the Under-19 World Cup for Pakistan in 2020 in South Africa, from where India's Yashasvi Jaiswal also emerged.

Haider was also suspended by the PCB for breaching Covid restrictions during the 2021 Pakistan Super League in Abu Dhabi, and as a punishment withdrawn from the team to England and the West Indies in 2021.

Sources said Haider was in the good books of newly recruited Pakistan white-ball head coach Mike Hesson, who was about to include him in the Pakistan team for the T20 tri-series in Sharjah later this month.

Pakistan has a history of players' misbehaviour in the past. Three top players -- Salman Butt, the then test skipper, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Asif were arrested on charges of spot fixing on the team's tour of England in 2010. All three were jailed and banned for five years.

Greenland's Melting Glaciers Feed Ocean Life, Study Finds

A new NASA-led study reveals that Greenland’s melting glaciers are fueling life in the Arctic Ocean. Each summer, massive freshwater plumes from glaciers like Jakobshavn drag deep-sea nutrients upward, boosting phytoplankton growth by up to 40%. These microscopic organisms form the base of the marine food web and play a key role in carbon absorption. Using NASA's ECCO-Darwin digital ocean model, researchers simulated the interaction of meltwater, currents, and marine biology. As melting accelerates, this biological boost could shift how oceans trap carbon, with global climate implications.
