Sikh Woman In Canada Designs Special Helmets For Her Children

Wearing a helmet is necessary for everyone while riding a bike. It reduces the risk of head and brain injury. In many countries, children under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet when riding a bike.

But a Canadian Sikh woman, Tina Singh, couldn't find a single helmet on the market to accommodate her sons' turbans. After that, she designed a turban-appropriate helmet herself. These are the first safety-certified multisport helmets designed specifically for kids like her, according to CBC News.

"I was frustrated that there wasn't a safe option in sports helmets for my kids," she said.

On her Instagram, she defined this initiative as: "I'm a mom who took a leap of faith to do something valuable for my kids... And you've responded with a lot of love."

"This is a big learning curve for me, it's not something I've ever done before," she said.

Tina, who also works as an occupational therapist, created a website for her product, "Sikh Helmets."

The Sikh community is slowly becoming more and more aware of Sikh helmets and its Instagram page, and they appear to appreciate this unusual and helpful initiative.

"My boys have been asking for a helmet that fits their hair for years...I am so excited that you're making this happen for them and all other Sikh kids!," responded one of her followers on Instagram.

When The Mammoth Railway Machinery Worked To Locate A Toy Train's Owner

Some bonds are not meant to be broken. Or not just yet.

All of 19 months, Adnan had already had one such bond with his toy train. He had his first heartbreak – probably — when he lost the toy on a train back home.

But unlike most stories, this was not to end with a sundering.

An Indian Army Havaldar, a fellow passenger, had seen the child's antics with the toy throughout their journey. When he saw that the child had forgotten his toy behind, he took it upon himself to reunite it with him, and in his pursuit, sent the mammoth railway machinery into motion.

On January 3, Vibhutibhushan Pattnaik was travelling in the same coach of the Secunderabad-Agartala Express as were Adnan and his family.

"I saw him play with the toy throughout the journey. In fact, when some technicians of the train hid the toy while playing with him, he started crying loudly. When I saw that he had let the toy behind, I had to do something," Pattnaik told PTI.

After Adnan's family deboarded at Kishanganj, Pattnaik immediately contacted the rail helpline -- 139 - Rail Madad -- and informed them about the toy, hoping that Railways' system would work for the child.

"Usually these helplines are for emergencies and to deal with cases where people have lost important items. However, I was hopeful," said Pattnaik, who did not have much details about Adnan, except his name and that the family of three had boarded the train from Secunderabad.

However, Railways traced the location of the train on January 4, and brought the toy back to the child.

According to an official, locating the contact details was a tough task as the ticket was purchased through the reservation counter in Secunderabad.

A team was put on the task to identify the reservation slip filled before reservation. After a thorough search, the requisition slip was identified, and the contact details were traced.

Names of Adnan's parents were found through a reservation chart and they were identified as Mohit Razaa and Nasreen Begum from Qazi Village of Uttar Dinajpur District, 20 Km away from Aluabari Railway Station. A railway team went to his home and delivered the toy.

"My 19-month-old child had forgotten his favourite toy truck in the train, which was very close to his heart. I had thought nobody would put any effort just for a toy. So I didn't register any complaint even when I was also feeling bad for my child," said Razaa, who was overwhelmed with emotions.

He thanked Pattanaik for showing heart and also the Railway Minister and the rail system for helping the good samaritan to use its resources for a young child.

"I feel happy just thinking that the toy is with Adnan again. I wouldn't have had peace of mind if I had just left it there," said Pattnaik.

"Thamizhagam More Appropriate Than Tamil Nadu": Row Over Governor's Remark

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi sparked a fresh controversy when he commented that the name of the State "Thamizhagam would be more appropriate than Tamil Nadu."

Following the Governor's comments, Twitter buzzed with #TamilNadu where DMK IT wing and Dravidian party supporters started to post #TamilNadu.

Meanwhile, DMK Treasurer and MP TR Balu slammed Governor saying that Governor Ravi should stop acting as a second State President of BJP.

"Governor RN Ravi on a daily basis passes some controversial comments to create confusion, separation and conflict. The governor said 'People have been cheated during 50 years of Dravidian politics'. It is highly condemnable as he should say this from BJP State headquarters Kamalalayam and not from Raj Bhavan," Mr Balu said.

He further said that the Governor is saying in all stages everyone should think of themselves as Indian.

"Yes, there is nothing wrong with having a unity feeling as an Indian. But can the governor raise questions against religious politics, Varnasanam, Sanathanam which are all against that unity," he said.

Earlier on Wednesday, speaking at a function held in Raj Bhavan to felicitate the organisers and volunteers of Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, Governor Ravi said, "Unfortunately in Tamil Nadu there has been a regressive politics that we are Dravidians, and by virtue of the Constitution, we have been brought together. The entire effort has been created in half a century to reinforce this narrative that we are not part of the nation, an integral part of the nation. And even a different kind of narrative has been created. Everything applicable for the whole of the country, Tamil Nadu will say no."

"It has become a habit. So many theses have been written--all false and poor fiction. This must be broken. Truth must prevail. In fact, Tamil Nadu is the land which holds the soul of Bharat. It is the identity of Bharat. In fact, Thamizhagam would be the more appropriate word to call it," the Governor said.

Following the Governor's speech, Thamizhagam is more appropriate than Tamil Nadu Twitter is buzzed with #TamilNadu.

Handles of DMK IT wing and Dravidian supporters trending #TamilNadu to show their resistance towards the Governor's speech.

Prince Harry Killed 25 In Afghanistan As Pilot In British Army: Report

Prince Harry has acknowledged killing 25 people during his time as an Apache helicopter pilot in Afghanistan, British media reported Thursday, quoting a soon-to-be-published autobiography.

The 38-year-old Duke of Sussex served two tours of duty against the Taliban, first as a forward air controller calling in airstrikes in 2007-2008, then flying the attack helicopter in 2012-2013.

In the book "Spare", due out next week, he said he undertook six missions as a pilot that led to him "taking human lives", the Daily Telegraph reported.

He said he was neither proud nor ashamed of doing so and described eliminating the targets as like removing "chess pieces" from a board.

Harry served for 10 years in the British Army, rising to the rank of captain, and has described his time in the military as his formative years.

His first tour was conducted under a strict news blackout for security reasons, which was agreed by British media outlets. He was forced to return home when a foreign publication broke the embargo.

He has never publicly discussed how many Taliban he killed.

Video cameras mounted on the nose of his Apache helicopter enabled him to assess his missions -- and determine with certainty how many he had killed.

"My number is 25. It's not a number that fills me with satisfaction, but nor does it embarrass me," he wrote.

He justified his actions because of his memory of the 9/11 attacks in the United States, and after meeting families of the victims.

Those responsible and their sympathisers were "enemies of humanity" and fighting them was an act of vengeance for a crime against humanity, he added.

Harry has since voiced concern about his security, not just because of his royal status but also because of his time fighting Islamist extremists.

The Telegraph quoted the extracts from the Spanish version of the autobiography it obtained after mistakenly being put on sale in bookshops on Thursday before being withdrawn.

Bird Flies From Alaska To Australia Without Stopping, Breaks World Record

When a bar-tailed Godwit flew 8,435 miles non-stop from Alaska to Tasmania, Australia, it surpassed the previous record for the longest non-stop migration by a bird. The 11-day journey without rest or food was tracked by a satellite tag on the migratory bird.

According to the Guinness World Records, bar-tailed Godwit (Limosa lapponica), known by its tag number "234684," flew 13,560 kilometres (8,435 miles) from Alaska to the Australian state of Tasmania without stopping for food or rest, breaking the record for the longest non-stop migration of a bird.

"The distance covered is equivalent to two and a half trips between London and New York, or approximately one-third of the planet's full circumference. According to the 5G satellite tag attached to its lower back, the epic journey started on October 13, 2022, and continued for 11 days and one hour without the bird landing once," the record-keeping organisation said.

This year's Godwit exceeded the previous record of 217 miles, which was set in 2020 by another bird of the same species.

Eric Woehler of Birdlife Tasmania told Guinness World Records that the bird probably lost "half or more of its body weight during continuous day and night flight."

"Short-tailed shearwaters and mutton birds can land on the water and feed. If a Godwit land on water, it's dead. It doesn't have the webbing on its feet, it has no way of getting off. So if it falls onto the ocean's surface from exhaustion, or if bad weather forces it to land, that's the end."

However, this Godwit, which typically migrates to New Zealand, made a dramatic 90-degree turn and landed on the shores of Ansons Bay in eastern Tasmania, Australia.
