The Best Drugstore Beauty Launches of 2019 (So Far)
We’re huge beauty lovers here at The Everygirl, if you can’t tell based on the plethora of our beauty content! From why you need vitamin-C in your routine to the “no makeup” makeup look to our new favorite self-tanning products, we’re really into new products. However, when you’re also trying to pay rent, save for your future, and afford that weekly take-out bill, beauty doesn’t always come first. So, we’re sharing all the best new drugstore beauty products for when you want to add a little somethin’-somethin’ to your routine without breaking the bank. They’re all editor-approved — the products and their prices.
Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots Ampoules Hair Treatment
Our hair goes through a lot of damage on the daily. From heat styling to color treatments, our hair could use a little TLC. Enter these rescue shots. They're chock-full of moisturizing ingredients to bring your hair back to life. Use one of these before a big event for gorgeous Insta-worthy hair.
Make it Last Matte Charcoal Setting Spray
A setting spray is crucial if you have oily skin. This one has charcoal infused in it, so it actually soaks up your oils as you set your makeup. This helps your makeup last up to 16 hours, allowing you to spend more time living life over running to the mirror for touch-ups.
Butter Bronzer
This is already a product most know and love, but the brand (finally) came out with deeper shades this year. This bronzer is soft but has enough pigment to show up on the skin. It adds the perfect "just got back from vacation" glow we all love.
Vitamin-C Tonic
The Everygirl team is obsessed with the Pixi Glow Tonic, so when they released a version filled with vitamin C (a skincare step we take very seriously!), we were ecstatic. This product gives your skin a healthy glow over time and promotes collagen production, a key for anti-aging. This one is great to use in the morning for a glow without using an acid.
Snapscara Washable Mascara
This mascara is everything if you want a natural, separated look. This is Maybelline's first wax-free formula, so it washes off easily with just water. The curved brush also gives the most gorgeous cat-eye effect to any eye shape.
Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation
Foundation doesn't have to be a boring part of your makeup routine if you're using great products. This foundation has a natural finish with a medium coverage AKA it's a dream for pretty much any skin type.
Pop Fanatic Vinyl Lip
Glossy lips are one of our favorite beauty trends of 2019, and these make it easy to achieve both pigment and gloss. This gloss comes in both natural and bright shades for whatever lip look you're trying to achieve. They're comfortable and not sticky — something any gloss lover knows is a hard pass.
Luminoso Glow Shimmering Face Palette
Milani's cult favorite Luminoso blush was reimagined into this gorgeous face palette. These shades work well as both highlighters and glowy blushes. I mean, look at those gorgeous peach shades?! This is definitely spring and summer approved. Tip: mix the shades to create whatever look you're going for!
Scalp Detoxifying Bubble Hair Mask
How could we talk about drugstore beauty without Queen Kristin?! We were so excited when KEH released this entire scalp line, and this is our favorite product. It's so different from anything I've ever tried, and it makes your hair feel immensely clean. Try this after a week's worth of spraying copious amounts of dry shampoo. Your scalp will thank you with LOTS of volume!
Hello Hydration! Face Cream
We could all use a little extra hydration this time of the year, and this extremely inexpensive hyaluronic acid moisturizer does the trick. It's filled with tons of great ingredients (Squalane, peptides, Niacinimide, and more!), but it doesn't have any of those gross ones (Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates).
Can't Stop Won't Stop Setting Powder
Anyone who loves drugstore makeup knows NYX has some of the best products. These powders create a soft-matte finish without looking dry or cakey. They come in a few different shades (because translucent isn't translucent for everyone!) as well as a banana shade to brighten.
Laboratories Resurfacing Skin Paste Mask
No7 is an unsung hero of the drugstore. Their products perform just as well as high-end, if not better. This mask contains both AHAs and PHAs to chemically exfoliate and resurface the skin. In just 15 minutes, your skin will have less texture, appear smoother, and it even targets fine lines. We're gonna need to stock up!
16hour Camo Concealer
When we think of a full-coverage concealer, most imagine something heavy and drying on the skin. This concealer shows you can get tons of coverage without all the cake. It's lightweight and slightly hydrating under the eyes, so it covers dark circles as beautifully as it does blemishes or any other skin issues you're not so thrilled about. It's vegan and cruelty free, and the price point is impossible to beat.
What new products are you loving!? Let us know in the comments!

10 Super Helpful Resources for Women
A group of researchers once found that when scared, female rats didn’t fight or flight. Instead, they did what is now known as “tend and befriend”. The female rat’s solution to stressful situations was to nurture and seek the support of others instead of fighting or escaping. I don’t believe in making sweeping generalizations, but I like to think that the events of the past few years have caused women to tend and befriend.
A lot of my work focuses on providing resources for women that I hope will help them with their careers, finances, and personal lives. I’ve uncovered many great resources for women over the years and want to highlight the great work these organizations are doing. Maybe you don’t need to utilize any of the resources these nonprofits or business offer right now, but they are great resources to bookmark for future use or share with friends in need.
1. Maven
Maven advertises itself as a “new type of healthcare company that puts women and modern families at the center.” They believe every woman and family deserves access to high-quality care, even without health insurance. Their high-tech platform provides affordable access to medical professionals. Instead of paying for insurance every month, you pay on an as-needed basis for short virtual appointments with healthcare professionals.
2. Girlboss Foundation
Girlboss provides tons of great resources for women looking to kill it at work or make it as an entrepreneur through their blog, conferences, and books. Those resources alone qualify them to be on this list, but the Girlboss Foundation really secured their spot. Since 2014, this foundation has awarded over $130,000 in financial grants to female-identifying entrepreneurs to help them turn their innovative ideas into successful companies. Grants are awarded on a biannual basis for $15,000 in funding and exposure in the Girlboss community.
3. Ellevest
Ellevest is an online advisor platform designed to help women invest their money in a way that is tailored to their needs. For example, their investment models account for the fact that generally women make less than men, but live longer years in retirement. They’re breaking out of the “boys world” finance mode in order to help women prepare for retirement.
4. Skillcrush
Skillcrush is an online coding and design school targeted at teaching underrepresented groups — women, the LGBTQ+ community, people of color — the skills needed to work in tech. Skillcrush offers web design, UX, and digital marketing online courses in the hopes of ending the gender gap in tech.
5. TIME’S UP
TIME’S UP was part of a movement that couldn’t be ignored and their organization is still growing. This organization insists on safe, fair, and dignified work for women of all kinds. They partner with leading advocates for equality and safety to improve laws and corporate policies as well as enable more women and men to access legal aid. Take a look at their resources if you feel there is inequality at play in your workplace.
6. pineapple
pineapple began in 2015 with a goal of bringing women together around good food. Their collaborative now hosts over 100,000 women who convene online and offline. They believe in using food to help women connect, share with each other, and strengthen our collective voice. You can check out some of their upcoming events here.
7. Girls Who Code
This empowering resource is for rather young women but is a cause so many women can get behind. Fewer than one in five computer science graduates are women. Girls Who Code is trying to change those numbers. They offer learning opportunities for female students to help deepen their computer science skills and confidence. Their programs creates pathways for their alumni to join the computing workforce. Students are also provided with a supportive community of peers and role models.
8. Dress for Success
Dress for Success helps women find employment and meet their professional goals by providing them with workwear apparel they may not have been able to afford. They also offer a variety of development tools to help women thrive in their careers. Learn how you can donate clothing or benefit from the program here.
9. Safr
If you feel uncomfortable using rideshare apps due to safety concerns (I’ve personally had some scary encounters using these services), you may want to consider using Safr next time you need a ride. Safr allows riders to select the gender of their driver. This feature enables women to choose female drivers if that makes them feel more comfortable. The app boasts safety features such as one called “SOS” which gives riders the option of contacting 911, Safr, or a pre-designated contact automatically. All drivers are screened through an in-person meeting and a one-hour driving session with a Safr employee before hiring.
10. The Little Market
Whenever you shop at The Little Market, your purchase helps generate meaningful income for female artisans. Beautiful home and style pieces that help empower women around the world is a combo we can all get behind.

The Subtle Art of Accepting a Compliment
In my office, snacks are the fuel that powers every project, meeting, and brainstorming session. My coworkers and I have entire desk drawers dedicated to snacks, and I have a candy bowl positioned on the outer perimeter that passersby frequently indulge in. One afternoon, I plucked a Dove Dark Chocolate Promises from the bowl, and the message inside the wrapper read:
“Accept a compliment.”
The short phrase gave me pause. Accepting compliments is not easy for me — as wonderful and thoughtful as praise can be, I’m always a little uncomfortable on the receiving end of it. I don’t want to seem like I’m taking an exaggerated bow, but, at the same time, I don’t want to dismiss that recognition as nothing either. Is it possible to accept compliments with confidence and grace? The answer is a resounding YES. Here are some tips to consider the next time you receive a compliment:
1. Say “thank you.”
You learned at an early age to politely say “thank you” when receiving a compliment, but pay attention the next time you’re in this situation. How quickly do you utter these words, then steer the conversation in a different direction? Or lobby a half-baked compliment back, only to feel a little disingenuous? Resist the urge to edge out of the spotlight and offer a genuine response. Even a simple, “Thank you. That just made my day!” goes a long way.
2. Give credit where credit is due.
No person is an island, and often compliments can be shared among a group, especially at work. Accept praise, but always share it with those who helped in the achievement.
3. Don’t argue or undermine.
To avoid looking like an attention-seeking egomaniac, we might respond to praise with a self-deprecating statement. But undermining compliments doesn’t do us any favors, and makes our conversational partners uncomfortable and feel like they need to continue heaping praise. Instead, soak up the spotlight. Even if you don’t believe it, you deserve every kind word.
4. Enjoy the spotlight.
While you can (and should!) give credit where credit is due in certain situations, make an effort to avoid immediately shifting the spotlight away from you. If you’re still feeling uncomfortable and need to redirect the conversation, consider asking a question. Something like, “Thanks, Nate! I’m so glad everything went well with the project. How did your presentation go yesterday?” will do.
5. Take it to heart.
A sincere compliment carries a lot of meaning. Someone went out of their way to share a genuine, kind thought with you, about you. Reflect on that and believe those words. Don’t just hear a compliment, really listen to it and take it to heart. Those words will not only brighten your day, but also boost your confidence, making it easier to accept compliments in the future.

WARDROBE 101: Leopard Print
And as I sat there, downing my cosmo, I couldn’t help but wonder… is there a natural selection to leopard print? Can only the chicest among us pull it off? Or is it the elevated neutral that works in any wardrobe?
FADE OUT.
Okay but really, I used to think leopard print was only for the incredibly fashion-forward or The Cheetah Girls and that anything in between was destined for disaster. But this was also the height of middle school where I thought fashion meant a knit skirt that was perilously close to terrycloth material, converse, and a graphic tee emblazoned “I’m with the band.” So what the hell did I know, really?
Now, I think of leopard as everything I’ve ever wanted in print. Neutral but statement-worthy, classic but trendy, elevated but also somehow not out of place at a gathering of Real Housewives wielding chard and sass. It’s perfection without being boring (honestly, same), which is an incredible feat to pull off. Here’s how to make it work — from the tiniest pops to full-on swaths of fabric.
The Print of the Moment
Lucky for me (and you and everyone in the world, basically), leopard is having a serious moment right now, which which means that you get anything you want in a leopard print these days. Coats, blouses, headbands, pants, shoes, underwear, cars, boats, hair, you get the gist.
Tips for buying leopard print
- I stan all forms of leopard, with a notable exception. Just as it is ~challenging~ to try camo in a florescent pink, it’s a risk to go neon for your leopard print. However, this is my personal preference, so if you are ready to rock a purple cheetah blouse, I am honestly in awe.
- The benefit of staying more neutral — orange, light yellow, black, brown, beige, white — is that your pieces will last for years to come, making them more of an investment than a trend.
- Prints can often expose a lot of garment flaws — like shoddy seam work and a less-than-perfect fit. If you’re choosing something with a lot of real estate — like a blouse, pants, coat, etc. — make sure you look carefully at the print (either in person or zoom, zoom, zoom online) to make sure it’s up to your standards.
- This is also a the time to invest in tailoring! It’s a great way to ensure that your clothes fit to utter perfection — and another way to invest in your wardrobe and the pieces you know you’ll wear and love for years to come.
- As always, we are pro faux fur here at The Everygirl. Be good to animals.
If you want to stay in a more neutral, found-in-nature leopard print zone, there are still so many ways you can play with and incorporate the print. A few of our favorite pieces are linked below. Plus, scroll down for all our favorite ways to style it!

How to style leopard print
When you start thinking of a classic leopard print as a neutral, it gets that much easier to style. Pair it with everything from jeans to night-on-the-town dresses to knockabout Sunday loungewear.
For Work
Sweater / Tie-Waist Pants / Leopard Heels / Tote / Gold Hoops
Leopard Skirt / One-Shoulder Sweater / Loafer Mules / Crossbody / Drop Earrings
Leopard Pant / Leather Jacket / Loafers / White Button-Down / Gold Hoops
Leopard Sweater / Jeans / Booties / Leather Bag / Disc Earrings
For Weekend
Leopard Topcoat / Tie-Front Top / Jeans / Sneakers / Ear Crawlers
Leather Jacket / Leopard Dress / Slingbacks / Studs
Off-the-Shoulder Sweater / Leggings / Sneakers / Clutch / Leopard Bandana
Oversize Sweater / Leopard Jammies / Slippers
